The All Weather Lifeboat crew were paged by Humber Coastguard at 20.00 to go to the assistance of the mfv Iled Yeu which had broken down off Flamborough Head. Under the command of coxswain Stewart Mckie the lifeboat left Bridlington at 20.12, the passage to the Iled Yeu taking 30mins .On reaching the Iled Yeu the tow was attached on the 1st attempt and the 2 hour tow back to Bridlington commenced. The Iled Yeu was safely alongside Bridlington Harbour at 22.15 .Leaving the lifeboat to returned to station the lifeboat was refueled and ready for service by 23.15.

The All Weather Lifeboat crew were paged by Humber Coastguard at 06.20 to go to the assistance of the mfv Challenger which had broken down 6 Miles SE of Bridlington Under the command of coxswain S Mckie the lifeboat left Bridlington at 06.35, the 6 mile passage to Challenger taking 25 mins. Once on scene a tow was established at the 1st attempt and the 1.30hour tow back to Bridlington Harbour commenced. The Challenger was safely alongside Bridlington Harbour at 08.30 .Leaving the lifeboat to returned to station the lifeboat was refueled and ready for service by 09.30.

Once on scene a tow was established on the 1st attempt and the 1 1/2 hour tow back to Bridlington Harbour commenced the Kirsty Louise and it's 2 crew were safley alongside the harbour at 05.30 allowing the lifeboat to return to station the Lifeboat was refueled and ready for service by 06.30

The crew launched with in minutes of been paged and where immediately stood down by Humber Coastguard as the dog had managed to swim safley ashore. The lifeboat returned to station and was refueled and ready for service by 21.45.

Once on scene a tow was established on the 1st attempt and the 1 1/2 hour tow back to Bridlington Harbour commenced the Novante and it's 2 crew were safley alongside the harbour at 13.00 allowing the lifeboat to return to station the Lifeboat was refueled and ready for service by 14.00.

Due to the weather conditions Bridlington Inshore Lifeboat was told to stand by in the bay where Flamborogh Head offered some lee from the weather conditions. Flamborough Lifeboat complete its service call successfully and required no assistance. Bridlington ILB was stood down. The lifeboat returned to station and was refueled and ready for service by 14.40.

On Hearing the situation unfolding on channel 16 the boat ride boat "The Pirate Ship" headed to the scene and towed the Three Brothers to safety, Bridlington ILB was stood down. The lifeboat returned to station and was refueled and ready for service by 13.45.

The All Weather Lifeboat crew were paged at 07.45 to go to the assistance of the mfv Maverick which had engine failure 7 miles from Bridlington. Under the command of Coxswain S Mckie the lifeboat left Bridlington at 07.55 The passage to the Maverick expecting to take 30mins. Whilst on route to the Maverick radio communications where lost with the vessel, which was put down to battery failure on the Maverick. When the Lifeboat arrived at the postion given there was no sign of the Casuality only a couple of local working boats which were both approached to make sure thy were not the vessel in trouble. On passing this information to Humber Coastguard a local fishing boat heard the conversation and informed the Lifeboat that the casualtiy was actually anchored off Aldborough another 13 miles South and was listening on VHF channel 76 and not Channel 67. Once on scene a tow was established on the 1st attempt and the 2 1/2 hour tow back to Bridlington Harbour commenced the Maverick and it's 2 crew were safely alongside the harbour at 11.15 allowing the lifeboat to return to station the Lifeboat was refueled and ready for service by 12.00.

The All Weather Lifeboat crew were paged at 15.54 to go to the assistance of the Yacht Joshua which had its anchor fast off Bridlington and its 1 man crew was unable to retrive it due to exhaustion. Under the command of Coxswain S Mckie the lifeboat left Bridlington at 16.02 The passage to the Joshua taking 7 mins once on scene 2 lifeboat crew where put aboard the yacht to assess the condition of the skipper, once it was established the skipper was fine just exhasted the 2 lifeboat crew retrived the anchor and 2nd Coxswain S Tibbett motor sailed the Yacht to Bridlington harbour escorted by the Lifeboat. The yacht was safley alongside the harbour at 16.20 allowing the lifeboat to return to station the Lifeboat was refueled and ready for service by 17.00.

The All Weather Lifeboat crew were paged at 00.40 to go to the assistance of the Yacht Pekatajo which had run aground in thick fog under Flamborough Head. Under the command of Coxswain S Mckie the lifeboat left Bridlington at 00.48 The passage to the Yacht Pekatajo taking 30mins. Humber Coastguard had also requested the launch of Flamborough Lifeboat, which was 1st on scene and managed to swim a tow line across to keep the Yacht Pekatajo head to sea. Both lifeboats stood by for the tide to turn and refloat the Pekatajo, once the yacht was afloat she was eased of the rocks by Flamborough Lifeboat. The crew of the Pekatajo checked the yacht for damage once it was established there was no serious damage it was decided the Flamborough Lifeboat would tow the yacht to Bridlington harbour with Bridlington Lifeboat escorting close by the yacht ,the tow back to Bridlington Harbour taking 1 hour the Yacht Pekatajo and it's 4 crew were safley alongside the harbour at 03.30 allowing the lifeboats to return to station the Lifeboat was refueled and ready for service by 04.00.

The Inshore Lifeboat crew were paged at 12.12 to assist a wind surfer with damaged gear. Under the command of helmsman A Trower the lifeboat launched at 12.16 into a slight sea . The passage to the casuality taking 10mins once on scene the lifeboat found itself working in 10 to 12 feet swells caused by the northly wind. A Trower and his crew who where having difficulty locateing the casuality due to the size of the swells , had to be guiding into the casuailty just outside of the breaking swells by the mobile Coastguard unit who was stood on high ground ashore. The casuailty and his board were recovered into the lifeboat and due to the conditions it was decide that he would be landed back at the lifeboat station. Once back on station the casuailty was given a warm drink and the lifeboat was refueled and ready for service by 13.00.

The Inshore Lifeboat crew were paged at 01.30 to search for a person seen walking into the sea. Under the command of helmsman S Tibbett the lifeboat launched at 01.35 and where tasked by Humber Coastgaurd to do a close inshore sweep of the shore line, after Humberside Police had taken a phone call from a member of the public who had reported seeing a person entering the sea. Humberside Police had also found an item of clotheing on the beach. Rescue Helicopter 128 from Leconfield was also tasked and several mobile Coastguard shore units. After a thorough Sea and shore line search lasting 1 hour had been carried out by all the rescue units, Humber Coastguard stood down all units deciding the casuality must have been safley ashore the lifeboat returned to station and was refueled and ready for service by 03.10.

The All Weather Lifeboat crew were paged by Humber Coastguard at 10.30 to go to the assistance of the mfv Thedoro which had broken down off Ulrome Under the command of coxswain Stewart Mckie the lifeboat left Bridlington at 10.39, the passage to the Casuality taking 25mins .On reaching the Casuality the tow was attached on the 1st attempt and the 1 hour tow back to Bridlington commenced. Due to the state of tide back at Bridlington Harbour "Low Water" The Lifeboat and casuality had to wait outside the harbour for 2 hours till there was sufficient water to get in .The Thedoror was safely along side Bridlington Harbour at 14.30 .Leaving the lifeboat to returned to station the lifeboat was refueled and ready for service by 15.15.

The lifeboat crew gave advice and watched the dinghy's and there occupants safley ashore.

The All Weather Lifeboat crew were paged by Humber Coastguard at 09.32 to go to the assistance of the mfv Independance which had broken down and was under tow from the Humber lifeboat. Under the command of 2nd coxswain Stuart Tibbett the lifeboat left Bridlington at 09.50 to rendevous with the Humber lifeboat some 14 miles out to sea. Once on scene the Humber Lifeboat slipped there tow and the Bridlington Lifeboat attached a tow on the 1st attempt then the 2 hour tow back to Bridlington commenced. The Independance was safely alongside Bridlington Harbour at 12.35 .Leaving the lifeboat to returned to station the lifeboat was refueled and ready for service by 13.30. PHOTO'S

Under the command of helmsman A Trower the lifeboat was on scene with in 5 minutes, once on scene it was found that the casuailty was able to engage ahead gear but not astern gear it was decided the lifeboat would escorted the casuality into Bridlington Harbour and then assist her on to her moorings .The Patrica was safely alongside at 17.55The Lifeboat returned to station and was refueled and ready for service by 18.20.

The lifeboat went ashore and confirmed it was the casuailty and that there was no other person in the sea once it was established all was well the Lifeboat returned to station.

The Inshore Lifeboat crew were on there way back to station from the previous shout when they were asked to go to the assistance of a person with a foot injury aboard the fishing boat Harvester. Due to the state of the tide "low water" the Harvester was unable to gain entry into Bridlington Harbour to land there injured crewman. Under the command of helmsman C Brompton the lifeboat met the Harvester about 1mile out to sea but due to the choppy seas it was decided the casuality would be safer aboard the Harvester till both boats were in calmer waters nearer the Harbour entrance, once calmer waters were reached the fisherman was transfered to the lifeboat, it was decided to land the injured fisherman at the lifeboat station were he was picked up and transfered to hospital. The lifeboat was refueled and ready for service by 15.50.

The inshore cew were paged byHumber Coastguard at 15.14 to go to the assistance of a dinghy beleived to be been blown out to see a 1 mile of Skipsea. Under the command of Helmsman S Tibbett the lifeboat made the 15 minutes passage to Skipsea, the local council safety boat zulu 1 was also tasked. Zulu 1 arrived on scene 1st and with help from the 1st informer was directed to the casuality which turned out to be 2 people fishing in a dinghy and not waving for help all units were stood down and returned to stations. Once back on station the lifeboat was tasked to search for a missing child last seen entering the water on south beach the lifeboat was on scene in minutes but again was stood down as the child had been found safe and well. It was decided by the helmsman & crew to stay afloat due to the off shore wind and the very busy beach Humber Coastguard agreed with this decision. It turned out to be the right decision as the lifeboat towed 2 broken down boats back to shore and was tasked by Humber coastguard to another dinghy been blown out to sea on the north beach. The lifeboat did 1 last sweep of the shore and then returned to station some 3 hours after been launched. The lifeboat was refueled and ready for service by 18.30.

The Inshore Lifeboat crew were paged at 16.55 to go to the assistance of a 2 people in the water Under the command of helmsman G Walkington the lifeboat was on scene within 15 minutes of the pagers been activated, once the lifeboat arrived on scene there was no sign of the casualitys the lifeboat was then contacted by Humber coastguard mobile unit who informed them the casualitys were further out to sea and that 1 had been picked up by the crab boat "Mary K". The lifeboat made its way to the "Mary K" to find the remaining casuality still in the water tangled in the kayaks lines and struggling to keep his head above water the crew untangled the casuality and convinced him he was safe to let go of the kayak and let the crew recover him into the lifeboat, the 2nd casuality was then transfered into the lifeboat. The lifeboat then returned to station under the instruction of the Coastguard who had a Ambulance on its way. The lifeboat crew placed the casualitys in a ambulance pouch for the passage back to the station to protect them from the elements as the lifeboat was punching it way into 1 to 1.5 meter breaking seas. Once back on the beach the casualitys were handed over to the shore crew and coastguard who treated them for the 1st stage of hyperthermia until the ambulance arrived, the lifeboat then returned to sea to collect the 2 kayaks from the "Mary K" the Lifeboat again returned to station and was refueled and ready for service by 18.00. The Helmsman said a big thank you should go to the "Mary K" skipper ( J Franshaw) and crew as the out come could have been much worse had they not been on scene.

While driving down to the incedent the ILB crew were asked by the Police via Humber Coastguard to keep there distance as the driver was abusive. Once on scene at a safe distance the ILB Crew witnessed the car been driven into the sea and then the police entered the sea and arreseted the driver. The ILB crew, Humber Coastguard Mobile Unit and ILB shore crew then recovered the vehicle using the ILB launching tractor,Once it was established there was only 1 person involved the Lifeboat returned to station and was refueled and ready for service by 06.45

The raft was brought into the lifeboat and returned to shore and past onto the coastguard, the Lifeboat returned to station and was refueled and ready for service by 12.55.

The lifeboat returned to the boathouse and was made ready for service.

The All Weather Lifeboat crew were paged at 10.05 to go to the assistance of the Ketch Back Breaker which had a rope round her propellor. Under the command of Coxswain S Mckie the lifeboat left Bridlington at 10.15. The passage to the casuality taking 30mins Once on scene a tow was established on the 1st attempt and the 1 hour tow back to Bridlington Harbour commenced once inside Bridlington Harbour the yacht was taken alongside the lifeboat and towed to the north side of the harbour the Backbreaker Blue and her 3 crew were safely alongside by 12.20 allowing the lifeboat to return to station the Lifeboat was refueled and ready for service by 13.15. The All Weather Lifeboat crew were paged at 16.08 by Humber Coastguard to go to bring home the 3 crew from the fishing vessel Flourish which had sunk after been in collision with the vessel Nautica 30 miles from Bridlington. Under the command off coxswain S Mckie the lifeboat left Bridlington and made the 1 3/4 hour passage to the Nautica. Once on scene the crew were transfered to the Lifeboat the lifeboat then proceded to another local fishing boat to pick up a crew member who is a relative of the missing skipper. The lifeboat then returned to Bridlington arriving back at 20.15. The lifeboat was refueled and ready for service by 21.00. An air and sea search was still under way for the missing skipper.
The missing skipper of the Flourish was well know to the Bridlington Lifeboat crew and the crewmen we brought back have friends amongst the Lifeboat crew. From all at Bridlington Lifeboat our thoughts are with you, the crew of the Flourish and the family and friends of the missing skipper.

The Lifeboat crew for both boats were paged by Humber Coastguard to go to the assistance of one of the local fishing boats which had run aground in the harbour entrance. As the ALB was making its way down to the waters edge the lifeboat crew could see the casuality vessel and could see that it had managed to get it's head to sea and was making its own way into the harbour and was probably not going to require any assistance, the Lifeboat crew past this information on to the coastguard. The coastgurad asked the lifeboat to stand by at the waters edge until the vessel was safely afloat and back inside the harbour. The ILB proceeded to launch with C Brompton at the helm. The Alb was then stood down as the casuality was safely alongside the ILB was stood down and returned to the beach. Both lifeboat returned to there boathouse and were refueled ready for service by 13.00.

Casualty - Assist Vessels broken from Moorings

The Inshore Lifeboat crew were paged at 21.15 by Humber Coastguard to go assist boats that were breaking from there moorings in Bridlington Harbour. Due to the very rough sea the inshore lifeboat was taken by road and launched into the harbour with A Trower at the Helm. Once on scene the ILB assisted in mooring up 2 of the biggest vessels in the harbour no easy task in a force 9 with 100 meters of rope trailing behind you all credit to A Trower for is boat handeling, this task was completed after a 1 1/2 hours The Helm was then handed over to S Tibbett and the lifeboat then went on to assist another 3 vessels and recover 1 sunken boarding boat. The Lifeboat was then recovered in the harbour and taken back to the boathouse by road some 2 1/2 hours after launching. Although the lifeboat was in the shelter of Bridlington Harbour it was working in choppy seas, lots of spray and storm force winds well beyond the boats limits. While the lifeboat was at sea there was 12 other Lifeboat Crew both ashore and aboard boats assisting in re mooring up any that had broken free. A Special thank you should go to Humberside Fire Brigade who came down and Ilumated the harbour which allowed the lifeboat crew to concentrate on the job to hand with out worrying about tourches. The Lifeboat was refueled and ready for service by 00.30.

Once on scene the lifeboat stood off while the police arrived on scene the casuality again entered the sea but was manged to be talked out by the police who then assisted the casuality. Once the coastguard confirmed the casuality was ok the lifeboat was stood down and returned to staiton. The Lifeboat was refueled and ready for service by 11.15.

The Inshore Lifeboat crew were paged at 00.30 by Humber Coastguard to go assist Humberside Police with a person who was in distress and threating to jump from the harbour wall, The lifeboat launched with A Trower at the Helm and was asked by the coastguard to stand off to the North of the harbour wall so out of sight but close enough to recover the person if required.. Once on scene the lifeboat stood off while the police tried to talk the casuality to safety, after 30minutes the casuality was safely in police custody. Once the coastguard confirmed the casuality was safe the lifeboat was stood down and returned to staiton. The Lifeboat was refueled and ready for service by 01.30.
